New Voices of Modern Arab Literature | The Writers

The Beirut39 competition set out to identify and honor writers who are at the start of their careers and who are often struggling to find a wider audience. The 39 writers that have been selected are some of the most exciting new voices of Arab literature, and hail from throughout the Arab world. [view map]

The "39 authors under 39" were chosen by a jury of four well-known and respected Arab writers, academics and journalists: Abdo Wazen, Saif al-Rahbi, Alawiya Sobh and Dr Gaber Asfour.
