Emergency Resources: Residencies with Special Opportunities

The following residencies have space or special opportunities for artists affected by natural disasters in the summer of 2017.






Djerassi Resident Artists' Program (Woodside, CA) will provide two (2) winter residencies to artists whose work or previously scheduled residencies were affected by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. Available dates are January 4-27.  A stipend of $1000 will be provided to each artist to cover transportation and food (the chef does not provide meals during winter residencies).  You will be in the company of Djerassi alumni who apply for winter residencies. Transportation to and from SFO International airport will be provided. 
  1. BRIEFLY describing why this opportunity is necessary to help you recover and continue your art practice.  
  2. Include a description of your studio needs
  3. If you cannot take advantage of the entire three weeks (arriving on January 4 and departing on January 27), please include preferred arrival and departure dates.

100 West Corsicana (Corsicana, TX) - At 100 West Corsicana we are blessed to be north of the coast just enough to see Harvey pass without destruction, though our friends down south suffer in innumerable ways.
This is 100W's off-season, so we have available living and work space for artists who may be effected by Harvey.  Next week we plan to host a recent resident of the Galveston Artist Residency who's sought refuge farther north alongside his wife and child. To apply contact:










Hinge Arts (Fergus Falls, MN)  is a residency program run by Springboard for the Arts' office in Fergus Falls, MN has space available in their residency program for artists who have been displaced by recent hurricanes in the South and fires in the West.

Space available: 1-bedroom or studio apartment. Studio/work space is possible, but not guaranteed until residency is confirmed.

Dates: Available dates: Up to 7 weeks, Wednesday, September 20 to Wednesday, November 8.

Location and Community: Fergus Falls is in West Central Minnesota, about a 3 hour drive North of the Twin Cities, and 1 hour south of Fargo, North Dakota. Fergus Falls' population is approximately 13,000. The residency program takes place on the campus of the former Fergus Falls State Hospital, in newly renovated apartments in a former nurse's dormitory.
