2018 Season Fellow | Djerassi Resident Artists Program (Woodside, CA)

Djerassi Resident Artists Program is looking for a part-time fellow to help with the 2018 Season. This position involves administrative work, communications regarding residencies and hikes, social media engagement, event support, photography, and general program responsibilities and support. The fellow will gain insight into the workings of an internationally respected non-profit artist residency.

This is a wonderful opportunity to live and work in the beautiful Santa Cruz foothills along the California coast. We are located on a remote ranch in the redwood forests, but only 45 minutes from San Francisco and Silicon Valley. It is an ideal environment for an aspiring artist or writer, or for a person beginning a career in non-profit arts administration. The perfect candidate will be self-directed, enthusiastic, and ready to experience the unique lifestyle of a rural artist residency. Experience, and enjoyment, in communal living is preferred.

Hours: 20 hours/week

Dates: January 3, 2018 – November 14, 2018

General Schedule: Wednesdays and 2 other weekdays. Overseeing dinner and clean up is required on these days. Flexibility on scheduling is appreciated during bi-monthly artists’ arrivals and departures. Must work our Annual Open House (August 12) and Artful Harvest Gala (October 7). Special events may also require work on weekends. Occasionally required to act as emergency contact when other staff is off site.

Compensation: The program provides a private, furnished room and shared bathroom in the Artists’ House, all meals, and a stipend of $500 per month.

Job Requirements:

  • A valid driver’s license is required; a personal automobile is desirable given our rural location.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Should be comfortable in the outdoors.
  • Superior interpersonal and problem solving skills are a must.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, computer literacy, and integrity are very important.
  • The ideal candidate should also be familiar with computer design programs and social media.
