The Sheldon,, a vibrant, nonprofit arts organization in St. Louis, Missouri, seeks an inspiring Executive Director to lead the organization into the future. This is a unique opportunity for an arts leader with significant people and operational management success, a track record of developing meaningful arts programing and stellar fundraising experience to build upon The Sheldon’s unmistakable momentum. The new Executive Director will bring fresh perspective and see this as an opportunity to devise a strategy around The Sheldon’s brand identity and image for the future.

The Executive Director will work closely with the Senior Executive Director, Mr. Paul Reuter, who has led The Sheldon over the course of the last 25 years, while learning The Sheldon as an organization and community. The Board anticipates a transition period of approximately six months in which the Executive Director will report to and be guided by the Senior Executive Director while leveraging the Transition Team of the Board. S/he is responsible for the day-to-day operation of The Sheldon and connecting with and cultivating artists, major individual donors and corporations, foundations and agency funders. In addition, s/he will be responsible for forging new funding relationships and developing new funding streams critical to the future success of The Sheldon.

With a successful track record in fiscal management and organizational leadership in the arts/nonprofit sector, the new Executive Director will bring a strategic eye toward building creative programming, strengthening existing revenue streams and developing new ones. A focus on growing The Sheldon’s endowment, solidifying capital campaign goals and the development of planned giving strategies will be top priorities for the incoming Executive Director.
