Industries Community Membership Manager | AS220 (Providence, RI)

The AS220 Industries seeks to foster a diverse community of artists, providing affordable access to resources in wide range of disciplines including printmaking, fabrication, photography & media arts.

The AS220 Industries Community Membership Manager is a 40 hours/week position. Deadline to apply is April, 30, 2018

Members are an integral part of the Industries. They are not just users but also contributors to the space, offering knowledge, expertise, ideas, and labor. The role of the Community Membership Manager is to engage with members, leveraging their knowledge, facilitating their involvement and providing them access to space and resources. This position is also responsible for growing the membership by creating an inclusive environment with clear pathways of engagement and relevant resources.

The Community Membership Manager will be the person on the front line working most closely with members to foster community and implement systems and policies that create an accessible and welcoming space. Day to day duties include assisting current members working in the space and signing up and orienting new members. The Community Membership Manager will coordinate member volunteer hours and oversee membership committees and Industries events. In the longer term, the Community Membership Manager will work to identify trends, track and analyse usage and gather input from members regarding interest. This position will work closely with the Facilities Coordinator and Industries Director to develop and implement policies and systems.

The Community Membership Manager should have people skills and be well organized. A background in art making is a required. An understanding of printmaking preferred. Candidate should have a willingness to learn a broad range of artistic mediums. The Community Membership Manager will report to the Industries Director.

Specific Responsibilities:

Membership Systems:
Oversee membership levels and offerings
Manage and maintain online member portal
Manage member data, information
Develop and maintain member contracts and handbooks
Manage member email lists
Orient and train new members to systems of access
Coordinate member volunteer hours, tasks and trainings
Actively track and ensure member dues collection
Collaborate with Youth Studios staff on youth and youth alumni membership programs

Manage Resource Usage
Manage and update online resource booking system
Work with Facilities Coordinator to develop systems and processes of usage
Create user guides and manuals as needed
Track and report resource and equipment usage
Analyze resource and equipment usage data to identify trends and needs
Work with Facilities Coordinator to ensure equipment and space meet the needs of members

Member Engagement:
Orient new members to the space and community
Work to increase membership through recruitment and promotion
Run regular member meetings
Manage member committees
Work with the Industries Director to identify potential instructors
Coordinate special contract and for-hire projects with members as needed
Oversee internships as necessary
Gather data and assess member needs, interest and demand

Special Events:
Organize special and public events such as Drink and Ink, PVD Fest and Foo Fest
Collaborate w/ staff and development on fundraising through events like the Print Lottery

Compensation:

AS220 has an equal pay policy: all non-profit staff are paid $18.50 per hour with benefits, including health care for full-time staff, generous and flexible paid time off, and opportunities for professional development.
