Part-Time Education Associate | Pyramid Atlantic (Hyattsville, MD)

Pyramid Atlantic is now accepting resumes for a new Education Associate position that supports the organization in the area of education with some additional support for exhibitions.

OVERVIEW

This position reports directly to the Artistic Director and is responsible for helping Pyramid achieve its education financial goals, that process of registration is smooth, and that our communication with enrollees is timely and thoughtful. As Pyramid Atlantic is a small organization, the Education Associate works primarily from the “front desk.” This is a part-time hourly position, working 20 hrs a week, including 4 hrs most weekends.

EDUCATION

  1.     Act as primary registrar for all Pyramid workshops and classes, including maintaining up-to-date information online, monitoring class capacity, and communicating with enrolled and prospective students.
  2.     Support Artistic Director with associated paperwork for classes, including payment requests for instructors.
  3.     Support Artistic Director with in-school classes both in the preparations and on-site as needed.
  4.     Coordinate learning opportunities for the public and Pyramid Artists thought helping organize and facilitate artist talks, panel discussions, etc.
  5.     Manage educational programming for Pyramid members that will make membership “sticky” and help increase new and renewing membership.

EXHIBITIONS

  • Assist with installation of exhibitions on and off site.
  • Draft paperwork for associated exhibitions (artist statements, labels, payment requests, etc.).
  • Manage logistics associated with artwork drop-off, pick-up, etc.


OTHER SUPPORT

  1.     Respond to queries that come through front desk, phone, and general email.
  2.     Assist in running of Pyramid “shop.”
  3.     Create an environment for artists and visitors that is welcoming and supportive.
  4.     Be a representative at community events and activities.
  5.     Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

Required: excellent communication skills (oral and written), Microsoft Office proficiency, high attention to detail, and ability to lift 20lbs. Preferred: experience in nonprofit and/or arts environments; college degree; experience in scheduling and evaluating education programs;  and knowledge of printmaking, papermaking, and/or book art materials and current practices.

COMPENSATION:

This position is paid hourly at the rate of $15/hr.
