Program Manager – Artist Residencies | Centrum (Port Townsend, WA)

Founded in 1974, Centrum produces multi-disciplinary artist workshops, intensives, and residencies on 434 acres of parkland at Fort Worden State Park on Puget Sound in the Victorian seaport community of Port Townsend, Washington. As we plan for our 50th anniversary in 2023, we seek a creative visual arts-focused Program Manager for Artist Residencies with a vision for growing and sustaining a vibrant year-round Artist-in-Residence program. Centrum today hosts more than 200 artists in residence annually in many disciplines, complementing our diverse annual programs in music, writing and creative youth development.

Centrum is a founding member of the Alliance of Artist Communities and the recipient of a new two-year NEA Our Town grant in 2019 through 2020. With this grant we will recruit six resident multidisciplinary artists with affiliations to the culture and history of the Olympic Peninsula. In addition, we wish to initiate a funded residency program, building on the success of our Emerging Artist Residency model.

We desire to strengthen our visual arts programming in harmony with regional and national partners including the NEA, University of Washington, Frye Art Museum, Port Townsend School of the Arts, Northwind Arts Center and others.

The development of the residency programs shall align with the strategic goals of Centrum and be determined in collaboration with the Executive Director and fellow Program Managers. Ideal candidates will attract artists and creative practitioners while overseeing the administration, promotion and community engagement activities for residencies. Competitive candidates will offer a strong network in regional and national artist communities. This is a senior staff position.
