2011 Alpert Awards Announced - $75,000 Award to 5 Artists

The Herb Alpert Foundation and California Institute of the Arts are delighted to announce the five recipients of the 2011 Alpert Award in the Arts:

Natalia Almada (film/video)
Jess Curtis (dance)
Marc Bamuthi Joseph (theater)
Emily Jacir (visual arts)
Nicole Mitchell (music)

With a $75,000 grant per artist, the Award supports a shared vision of the transforming power of the arts and honors artists respected for their creativity, bodies of work, and ability to propel their art in new and unpredictable directions, making something that matters within and beyond their field.

The Herb Alpert Foundation has also awarded 2011 Residency Prizes to:

Ben Goldberg (Alpert/Ragdale Prize)
