The NEA awarded more than $1 Million to artist residency programs alone in 2012, and the creation of the new Artist Communities category in 2009 has brought a significant increase in NEA funding to Alliance members and other residency programs.
While Artist Communities remains a small division within the NEA, the funding available to our field grows as more organizations apply to Artist Communities. It is truly exciting to have such a strong advocate for our field at the federal level, and we hope you will take advantage of the resources and assistance offered by the NEA.
The deadline for this years application is March 7th and the NEA is conducting a webinar on February 6 to review guidelines. This webinar is specifically created for the Artist Communities division, aimed at providing support specifically for artist residency programs. The webinar will offer targeted information about applying to the NEA, whether you have applied previously to Artist Communities, applied in Visual Arts or another division, or if you are considering applying to the NEA for the first time. Michael Orlove, Director of Artist Communities, will be leading the session.
Following the webinar the NEA will make the presentation available to the public. Check back soon for the link!
