The Sacatar Foundation offers new dance Fellowships

The Sacatar Foundation, in partnership with Dance/USA Philadelphia, will provide up to eight Fellowships in 2014 for US-based dancers and choreographers (US citizens and legal US residents.) Individuals may apply as well as small ensembles of up to three dancers. The Fellowships will include airfare, studio, room and board for eight-week residency sessions at Sacatar's seaside estate in Itaparica, Bahia, Brazil. Two of the residency sessions in 2014 will provide the opportunity for the Dance Fellows to perform at dance festivals in Salvador, Bahia, Brasil (in April and November). Full details at www.sacatar.org; click on APPLICATION.

Individual dancer/choreographers and small ensembles of up to three dancers may apply.  For this Application Process, all applicants must be legal residents of the United States.

Through this initiative, Sacatar intends to award Fellowships to up to eight dancer/choreographers in 2014.  Philadelphia-based artists are encouraged to apply.  Fellowships that are offered to Philadelphia artists will be supported in part by Dance/USA Philadelphia.

Available to individual dancer/choreographers and to small ensembles of up to three dancers, the Fellowships will provide:

  • Roundtrip airfare between the USA and Salvador, Brazil
  • Private bedroom(s) with attached bathroom(s)
  • Exclusive use of the dance studio
  • All meals (except Saturday evenings, Sundays and Brazilian holidays)
  • Logistic support

Through the support of Dance-USA Philadelphia, there will be an additional stipend of US$1000 (one thousand dollars) for each participating dancer based in Philadelphia.  To apply, click on APPLICATION.
