The Sustainable Arts Foundation has awarded 17 organizations in 11 different states with funding to make their residency opportunities more available to parent artists. The 2017 grants will support a range of projects - from designated scholarships and residency sessions for artists with children to facility adjustments and onsite daycare.
"We’ve made funding residencies a priority for our organization for two reasons," said Tony Grant, Executive Director of the Foundation. "Parents are often deprived of the time and space that these programs offer, and they are especially efficient and productive in residence. Additionally, many parent artists can’t afford the time for exhibitions, openings, critiques, and studio visits which makes the peer networking and social component of residencies particularly beneficial."

The Sustainable Arts Foundation is a non-profit foundation supporting artists and writers with families. Our mission is to provide financial awards to parents pursuing creative work.Too often, creative impulses are set aside to meet the wonderful, but pressing, demands of raising a family. The foundation’s goal is to encourage parents to continue pursuing their creative passion, and to rekindle it in those who may have let it slide. The Sustainable Arts Foundation is an Affiliate Member of the Alliance of Artists Communities. Read more: www.sustainableartsfoundation.org/residencygrantees/
