After a residency, you might create something that would never have otherwise existed. You could discover one or two new lifetime friends. You might land in your body, and find that those dark places are yours and that growth can hurt but is always worth it. You may learn that what is precious is what you left back home. Your peripheral vision could double. You may discover that your breathing has changed, and you are forever one degree hotter. You will certainly feel grateful. I did.

Artist Trust: EDGE Professional Development for Visual Artists

08/23/2008 - 08/30/2008

The EDGE Professional Development Program for Visual Artists provides visual artists in Washington State with a comprehensive survey of professional practices through a hands-on, interactive curriculum that includes instruction by professionals in the field as well as specialized presentations, panel discussions, site visits, and assignments. The EDGE Program focuses on providing artists with the relevant and necessary entrepreneurial skills to achieve their personal career goals, as well as to develop peer support and exchange among the participating artists.

In 2008, through a panel review process, 30 artists will be selected to participate in the 50-hour training program. The following two cycles will be offered in 2008:

Seattle, WA :: June-July, 2008 :: $250
Port Townsend, WA :: August 23-30, 2008 :: $400

Artist Trust offers limited tuition assistance on an as-needed basis.
All interested artists are encouraged to apply.
