The Artist-in-Residence Program at Anchor serves emerging, mid-career, and established artists who are proficient in print-media, need access to professional presses and equipment, and require an uninterrupted stretch of time to develop a print-based project. The application process is open to all experienced printmakers, whether locally, nationally, or internationally based.
The program is not an apprenticeship. The Anchor Graphics residency provides time and facilities for an artist to work on a specific project, as articulated in his/her proposal, and provides Artist Residents with basic materials, shop access, the technical assistance of our master printers, and a small honorarium.
Anchor Graphics welcomes artists into our shop for 3-week residencies during the fall, winter spring and summer. Residents are expected to interact with students by conducting individual work critiques or conversations with book, paper, or print classes and/or present a public lecture about their current projects. Each artist is expected to donate some of the print-based work created during his/her residency to the Anchor Graphics Archives.
