Damsite Winter Arts Residency

Emerging Program member

The Damsite Winter Arts Colony is an arts residency program for artists in all mediums. Residencies last for one month and include private lodging within a historic casita. The 2016-2017 program is open during the months of November and December 2016 and January and March of 2017. The cost to artists is $500 and includes lodging, linens and towels, and weekly cleaning services. Artists-in-Residence are responsible for the cost of travel, food, art supplies, personal items, and all misc. expenses not previously mentioned. Family and pets are welcome on a case-by-case basis.

The area is rural and rustic. Please be prepared for there to be limited cell service. The provided lodging does include limited access to wi-fi, however the casitas do not have televisions or landlines. What the area lacks in connectivity it makes up for in tranquility, privacy, and inspirational views – deer roam freely throughout the area and you can watch as flocks of pelicans fish for their breakfast on the lake. Come take advantage of this true opportunity to focus on your work without distractions.

In the month of February 2017, we are pleased to host the first annual Elephant Butte Lake Artist Retreat, which will be led by renowned art educators John and Souheir Rawlings. This intensive residency will include additional workshop opportunities as well as field trips throughout the surrounding region.
