Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency

JOSHUA TREE HIGHLANDS ARTIST RESIDENCY offers artists a house in which to live and work for a period of seven weeks (April 24 - June 12, 2016). Additional opportunities for individual solo stays for 6 weeks will be available as well. ( See dates below.) There is also a shared art studio. The Residency’s goal is to give artists the time and opportunity to create new works of art while being inspired by the magic of the high desert terrain of Joshua Tree National Park.

Submission dates August 1st., 2017 - January 10th, 2018 at

Artists unable to attend the April/June program may apply for a 6 week individual stay at JTHAR. Make sure to chose your dates listed below if you are applying for the 6 week solo program.

Joshua Tree National Park is one of the most spectacular environments in the country with a unique beauty and quiet making it an ideal place to create.

Accommodations are are located minutes from the west entrance to Joshua Tree National Park.

The residency is open to artists worldwide working in all media, including painters, photographers, writers, musicians, etc.

*Artists selected into the 7 week residency will receive a scholarship stipend of up to $1000.00 There are no scholarships available for the 6 week solo program.

Deadline for 2015 submission is January 10th, 2018

Joshua Tree Highlands Artist Residency located next to Joshua Tree National Park. The residency provides individual housing for each artist in the program. There is also a shared art studio. The area is a spectacularly beautiful and quiet environment in which to create.

Residency Fees

Application Fee: $35. There are no other fees for this program.

Additional expectations / opportunities

Curated exhibition at the end of program at Joshua Tree Art Gallery. Artists will be requested to present an educational workshop or talk about their work to the community.
