National Art Studio, Korea (Changdong)

The National Art Studio provides artist-in-residence programs run by the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Korea in order to encourage and support artistic creativity and to make Korean contemporary art known to the world.


  • Providing an efficient and productive working environment for artists to devote themselves to their art practice.
  • Facilitating exchanges between artists and art professionals to create opportunities for their professional development
  • Building global networks linking artists and artists
  • Positioning as an artistic and cultural space where the general public shares contemporary art.

Main Programs

  • Support creative activities : Open studio, Alumni and current resident artists' exhibitions, Workshops, etc.
  • Building global networks : International Residence Exchange Programs, Asia Pacific Artists Fellowship Program, UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries for Artists

  • Additional eligibility information: 

    - Applicants must be established individual artists who are over 25 years old. Applicants will be accepted from all regions of the world (except Korea).
    -For this program we are seeking only individual artists, not duos or teams. Work partners, assistants, spouses and family members are allowed for day visits only.
    - Artists who have not previously participated in a residency program at the National Art Studio (Changdong/Goyang).
    - Proficiency in English (required)

Residency Fees


Stipends / other support

Monthly allowance- 6 months: KRW 1,800,000 (approx. USD 1,600), 3 months: KRW 900,000 (approx. USD 800)
