National Music Centre

The National Music Centre’s Artist-in-Residence program is designed to feed and nurture artistic creativity and technical innovation by providing artists at various levels of professional development with uninterrupted time and space to create new and innovative works using our unique and unparalleled collection of living musical instruments, recording equipment and expertise.

Our program is inclusive – reflecting the cultural and musical diversity of the Canadian and global music communities; supportive – cultivating creative innovation and fostering an internationally respected forum for artistic exploration in all genres, styles and stages of development; and innovative – providing access to a world-class collection of instruments and recording equipment for creation and experimentation, peer interaction, performance, and workshops.

Calgary: Canada

The National Music Centre is committed to amplifying the love, sharing and understanding of music. Its vision is to become a national catalyst for discovery, innovation and renewal through music. NMC is home to the histories and memories of music in Canada, with a growing collection of unique and iconic musical instruments and sound equipment. Currently reaching more than 75,000 people each year through our collections, performance spaces and programs, we are excited to be building a new 160,000 square foot facility that will include a 300 seat performance hall, five floors of exhibition space, a unique and unparalleled collection of musical instruments and sound equipment, recording consoles, and a home for live music and engaging programming for all ages.
