Samband íslenskra myndlistarmanna (SIM) / The Association of Icelandic Visual Artists

Non-member

The SIM Residency seeks to promote an environment of reflection, study and play by providing artists with a working environment that supports the artistic process. The SIM Residency welcomes 13 visual artists at a time to Reykjavik for residencies of 1-3 months.

Location

Reykjavik: Iceland

Residencies are located in 2 locations -- Seljavegur, near the Reykjavik city center; and Korpúlfsstaðir, just outside the city. At Seljavegur, AIRs are housed in an apartment building that also hosts 45 local artist studios. Seljavegur overlooks the ocean and is a 10-minute walk from the old city center. Korpúlfsstaðir is in the eastern outskirts of Reykjavík, 10 km away from the City Center. The house, which was built in 1925-1930, was formerly one of the biggest dairy farms in Iceland.
