Yaddo is a nonprofit retreat for artists in Saratoga Springs, New York. Our mission is to nurture the creative process by providing an opportunity for artists to work without interruption in a supportive environment.

We offer residencies to professional creative artists working in the following disciplines: choreography, film, literature, musical composition, painting, performance art, photography, printmaking, sculpture, and video. Artists apply individually or as members of collaborative team.

Description and Qualifications

The Yaddo Development Assistant is responsible for a range of activities that support reaching Yaddo’s fundraising goals.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to three Senior development team colleagues. 
  • Experience is a plus, but not a pre-requisite with fundraising data support – including data entry, running reports and queries, tracking event attendance, maintaining donor records.
  • Familiarity with databases and a talent for data analyses and research
  • Prepare sponsorship packets, new donor packets and other needs for donor meetings.
  • Facilitate department mailings.
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of events and donor cultivation, as needed.
  • Attend special events and board meetings, as scheduled.  
  • Contribute ideas and content for various digital platforms, including the website and social media.

Experience/Requirements

  • 1-3 years related nonprofit experience, or BA/BS in development or related field preferred.
  • Can-do spirit; energetic and flexible demeanor.
  • Experience with digital media, website development, and social media strategy a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) required.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge, helpful, but not required.
  • Familiarity with WordPress CMS, and Adobe Creative Suite (or other design programs), a plus. 
  • Strong administrative support skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strength in building and maintaining relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact with a wide range of people.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to work efficiently, juggle tasks simultaneously, meet deadlines, and achieve goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
