KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position supports the residency, event, and rental activity at A Studio in the Woods by coordinating the smooth functioning of the built environment. This includes:

  • Monitor buildings for needed maintenance and keep regular maintenance schedules for fire extinguishers, AC units, etc. Anticipate facility issues before they escalate.
  • Submit larger facilities issues to Tulane Facilities and track projects through the Tulane system
  • Coordinate with Studio Land Manager regarding outdoor/indoor interface
  • Provide regular reports to staff to communicate facility status.
  • Host weekly new resident facility orientations
  • Prepare spaces for new resident arrivals, including washing linens and making beds
  • Assist with events and public programs including nights and weekends
  • Communicate with Tulane housekeeping regarding weekly cleaning 
  • Manage relationships with external facilities vendors including Terminix and Orkin
  • Troubleshoot IT issues and escalate larger issues to Tulane IT
  • Monitor and purchase office and facility supplies
  • Respond to resident needs, including after hours as necessary
  • Coordinate and calendar studio use
  • Contribute to ongoing improvements to organizational culture and systems
  • Other tasks as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma/equivalent and 3 years of directly related work experience.
  • Strong interest in the arts and/or environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to interact professionally with diverse groups of individuals at all levels.
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer packages, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and database management.
  • Ability to work weekends and evening hours as necessary.
  • Ability to do light maintenance tasks such as light bulb replacement, paint touch-ups, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Demonstrated and ongoing commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:

We are located in a rustic, wooded environment 30 minutes from downtown New Orleans. Candidates must have personal transportation to and from our location. This position will be fully on-site.

COMPENSATION:

This is a full-time, hourly position through Tulane University at pay grade 23 (starting range $38,000 - $40,365) with benefits including health care coverage, tuition assistance for continuing education, and a retirement package. Learn more about benefits here
