Artist Family Residency
July 12-16, 2023 or July 19-23, 2023 | Youth (Aged 8-13)
July 26-30, 2023 | Teen Intensive (Grades 9-12)
The Artist Family Residency invites Artist Parents and Artist Youth alike to be in process together for a one- to two-week process-based residency at Franconia. Coinciding with our Youth Installation Summer Camps, Artist Youth have the option to attend camp for free during the day or join the Artist Parent on-site for research. For artist parents, this is a self-directed residency with no expectation of a finished work. The Artist Family benefits both from the individual creative process and also through togetherness while exploring the connection between art and ecology. A culminating Parents & Community sharing of Summer Camp Works provides a joined capstone experience for the Artist Family.

Accessibility
Franconia Sculpture Park's 50 acres are fully accessible through a series of trap rock paths that can be traversed via motorized wheelchair. Franconia also offers two motorized carts for those who require additional mobility assistance. Our newly opened Franconia Commons Visitor Center is fully accessible, with ample egress for all public spaces, low countertops for individuals in wheelchairs, and artwork that is hung at a level to accommodate people of various abilities. Our gender-neutral restrooms are also fully accessible. Further, Franconia Commons now has an indoor studio and classroom space that can be utilized by those with a variety of abilities, and clear directional signage can be found throughout the building and park grounds. Franconia's office space also is physically accessible to the general public and all employees that may require additional mobility assistance.
Franconia Sculpture Park offers a full range of accessibility options for all public programs, and our accessibility coordinator, Sarah Buezis, is able to be reached by those requiring additional assistance during M-F business hours. FSP is able to offer funds for translator services through Springboard for the Arts for hearing impaired artists-in-residence. All of our sculpture labels include QR codes for those that may be audio or visually impaired, which includes additional material such as insights from the artists, performance art at the site of the work, or music inspired by those works. We provide closed captioning for all of our online "Dinner & Discussion" lectures and live streaming events, and are currently working on an audio digital map of the park that includes additional AR components for the 2022 season that can be accessed by those who might not otherwise be physically able to access the park or programs.
Franconia provides additional accessibility options for artists-in-residence who may not be able to travel during the COVID-19 pandemic, such as flexible residency schedules and virtual residencies.
