Residency Program Summary
Application Information
Accessibility
The ship is a fairly hard-to-be place. Large equipment swinging around, being launched into the water and being retrieved back out. Everything tilting from side to side, lots of balance issues, potentially rough weather making things worse. It is challenging moving up and down floors without even considering the work that needs to be done. It is definitely not remotely like a pleasure cruise; it is a working ship. We think it could be dangerous for someone with limited physical capacities.
For residents without access to a car we provide grocery pick-up services from our local grocery store. residents can order their groceries online and we will pick them up and deliver them to the resident.
We can assist with taking residents down to the ship in Newport from the Sitka campus.
For orientation there is lot's of information we tell residents, we can assist with an orientation document with bullet points for residents to take notes on to help with processing all the information.
This residency is not appropriate for artists with limited mobility.
