White Buffalo Land Trust is a nonprofit organization dedicated to practicing, promoting, and developing systems of regenerative agriculture for local, regional, and global impact. Our work is rooted in the belief that agriculture can be a force for restoration—that the way we produce food, fiber, medicine, and materials can regenerate our ecosystem and strengthen the health of communities.

The Artist-in-Residence program is an extension of that work. Situated at Jalama Canyon Ranch, our 1,000-acre Center for Regenerative Agriculture on California's Central Coast, the program invites artists into relationship with this landscape to observe, listen, and engage with its living systems. Through immersive residencies and financial support, artists are given time and space to create work grounded in place.

Artists are encouraged to explore the interconnected systems of soil, water, biodiversity, agriculture, and human health, translating what they experience into something we can see, hear, and feel. This program helps reimagine agriculture not only as a system of production, but as a vibrant expression of ecology, community, and culture.
