In a city where creative space is becoming increasingly difficult to find (or afford!), East London-based creative studio JOY! Collective are opening their doors to one selected artist this autumn for an artist residency.

The residency is aimed to support early-career artists from all backgrounds who could benefit from free studio space in the capital, giving them the opportunity and freedom to experiment and create work without the financial pressure of London studio rates.

The residency is designed for artists with ambitious ideas that have outgrown their current workspace, whether that's experimenting with a new material, working at a larger scale or testing a process they haven't previously had room to explore.

Intended to support self-directed experimentation and encourage artists to take creative risks that simply aren't possible in smaller studios or shared workspaces, the selected artist will gain access to the studio's space, materials, tools, library, and mentoring.

Throughout the residency, JOY! Collective will invite its creative community into the studio, (by appointment only), to view the work in progress and discuss the making process. 
The duration of the residency is 4weeks from the 28th September, with an open studio and residency party on the 22nd October to showcase the work created.
