Limen Art Residency

Associated Residency Program

LIMEN is organized in partnership with Berlin Film Community, an association of over 30,000 members dedicated to supporting independent filmmaking and visual arts practice. LIMEN was co-founded by Linda Paganelli and Adriano Lostia — both long-standing members and co-founders of Berlin Film Community — bringing together Paganelli's background in visual anthropology and decolonial, queer-feminist filmmaking with Lostia's work spanning documentary film, humanitarian project management, and grassroots organizing.

Based at Casa M, a restored manor house in the medieval village of Siddi, Sardinia, LIMEN operates as a small, independently run residency — this is its inaugural edition, launching October 2026, with a long-term intention to continue as an annual program supporting artists working at the intersection of memory, land, and political and queer inquiry.

Additional Eligibility Information

Is Limen for you?

  • You're a conceptual artist, mixed media artist, land artist, visual artist, filmmaker, photographer, researcher, designer, illustrator, composer, community maker or writer who needs time and space to develop a body of work
  • You're drawn to questions of memory — personal, collective, or both — and want space to work with them, not just around them
  • A political and queer reading of your material feels urgent, whether it's already central to your practice or something you're just starting to explore
  • You want to work near other artists without losing your own solitude
  • You're curious about land, place, and what a specific territory can teach you — rather than treating your location as scenery

You don't need prior experience with anthropological or ethnographic methods. You need curiosity, and a willingness to let two weeks actually change the work.

No public showing required — the residency prioritizes process over presentation.

Application:

01 Project Proposal (300–500 words) Tell us what you want to develop during your time at Limen — the questions you're sitting with, the work you want to make or unmake, and why Sardinia and this framing of memory feel relevant to your practice right now.

02 Supporting Materials (optional but encouraged) Send us links to your photos, sketches, writing samples, film stills, or any documents that help us see your practice.

03 Interview Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a short conversation before final decisions are made.
