Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program

The Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program provides year-long residencies for visual artists.


Roswell, New Mexico: United States

Artists are housed in a complex of six houses and ten studios located on 40 acres of land. Each artist is provided with a house that can amply accommodate either a single person or a family.

    Because ours is a twelve month residency and our artists arrive at different times throughout the year, our annual application deadline date varies from year to year. Applications are for residencies that will begin approximately four, to as much as twelve months after the application deadline.

Facilities & Services

  • Housing: Private housing (individual apartment/cabin/house)

  • Companions: Pets Allowed, Spouses/partners allowed for full stay, Children allowed for full stay
    Indoor cats only are permitted. Because the Gift of Time was conceived as a family program, children are welcome. The residency has only one house designated for dogs, if you have a dog, check the "dog box" on your application to be considered for this house. We absolutely do not allow yard dogs as we have no yard. Dogs must be house broken, extremely well trained and safe around children. All living facilities are separate, fully furnished three bedroom houses.

Residency Fees

Artists cover their transportation to and from the residency, and should have some form of vehicle during their stay (public transportation is limited).

Stipends / other support

Artists receive $800/month living stipend, with additional $100 for each dependent living with the artist, paid at the end of each month of residence.

Additional expectations / opportunities

While not mandatory, RAiR Program artists are invited to exhibit at the Roswell Museum and Art Center sometime during their residency.
