The Studios at MASS MoCA

Emerging Program member

The Studios at MASS MoCA is a new program (launched in October 2015) offering residencies to artists from around the world. MASS MoCA's Assets for Artists program is now accepting applications for residencies sessions of 1-8 weeks between October 13, 2017, and April 2, 2018.

This time around, in addition to the usual benefits — great studio space and housing, one group meal per day, access to MASS MoCA‘s exhibitions and to Makers’ Mill (a printmaking and fiber arts makerspace located a short walk from the Studios), and one-on-one professional development coaching — we’ll be inviting certain applicants to participate in “financial wellness” residency sessions, with extra financial aid to minimize the residency fee, a $500 travel/meals stipend, and workshops and coaching to get your financial house in order. This is made possible with the support of a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

The deadline to apply is July 6, 2017 11:59pm. There is no application fee.

Location

North Adams, Massachusetts: United States

MASS MoCA is one of the world's largest and most renowned contemporary art museums, located in North Adams, Massachusetts, about 3 hours (by car) from Boston and New York. North Adams is a former industrial town of approximately 13,000 residents, nestled in the Berkshire Mountains. The surrounding region has tremendous hiking (the Appalachian Trail goes through North Adams, and there are numerous other trails in the surrounding hills -- Mount Greylock State Reservation, Clarksburg State Forest, Green Mountain National Forest, etc.). We also have fantastic arts attractions nearby, including the Clark Art Institute, Williams College Museum of Art and Williamstown Theater Festival just 10 minutes away, and Tanglewood, Jacob's Pillow, Shakespeare & Company, Barrington Stage and Berkshire Theater Festival less than an hour away.
