ACA Announces Winter + Spring 2023 Programming Schedule!
ACA Staff
February 6, 2023

For the past three years, Artist Communities Alliance has been working to foster connectivity and knowledge-sharing online. We’ve developed a robust set of year-round virtual programs including #ResidenciesConnect networking sessions, Field Conversations, the Equitable Capacity Workshop series and more!

We are excited to announce the following programs for Winter + Spring 2023 and beyond:

>>> Field Conversation
The Aftermath: Supporting Black Arts Workers after the 2020 Racial Reckoning
Wednesday, March 15 | 1:00pm-2:30 pm ET

ACA’s President and CEO, Lisa Funderburke Hoffman hosts a conversation with three arts leaders, who are committed to supporting Black arts workers in the artist residency field and beyond.

The year 2020 was marked by platitudes and statements from organizations promising change for racial equity. Was there in fact a reckoning in the arts? Were these well-publicized pledges backed up with clear and consistent action? Are Black arts workers and artists receiving more support outside of your organization and within your professional communities? What can non-Black arts workers do to create true transformation? Through an open conversation, panelists will discuss these questions and more, holding accountable the arts sector as we work towards transformative action.

Registration Opens: Wednesday, February 15, 2023

Accessibility: All Field Conversations are live-captioned and ASL interpreted. ACA is committed to providing full access to all. Please send accessibility inquiries and requests to programs [at] artistcommunities.org

>>> #ResidenciesConnect
Performing Arts Residencies
Wednesday, April 26 | 1:00pm-2:15 pm ET

This #ResidenciesConnect session will focus on topics unique to programs that support dance, theater and other performing arts practices. Member organizations are invited to discuss concerns unique to their programs, including the need for discipline-specific facilities, accommodating ensembles, presentation opportunities for residents and more.

ACA is increasing its support for performing arts residencies and finding new resource streams. As we grow this membership area, we want to hear from you about how to best support your needs.

This session will begin with a share-out from a few artists and residency programs, followed by breakout rooms for deeper discussion and resource exchange. Attendees will be invited to ask questions and share insights.

Registration Opens: Wednesday, March 22, 2023

>>> Training Program
Emerging Program Institute
Fall 2023

This Fall, ACA will host our twelfth annual Emerging Program Institute (EPI), an annual training program that supports people and organizations in the early stages of creating a residency program. Since 2011, this yearly training program has welcomed emerging leaders at all residency development phases — from the initial ideation stage to residencies preparing to launch.

This year’s EPI will take place virtually. Stay tuned for more information about the application process.

We look forward to a fruitful year of learning and connectivity. Further information about registration and application processes for some of these programs will be updated as available.

To be the first to learn about upcoming sessions, subscribe to our Workshops + Trainings newsletterSubscribers will receive previews of upcoming events and gain access to priority registration.

Until guidelines affirm that it is safe to host large, in-person gatherings, we will not host any in-person events — including the ACA Conference — but we will continue, albeit virtually, to unite and support the people who power residencies.
