Each summer for the past three years, McLennon Pen Co. has transformed the traditionally quiet month of August into a period of artistic production and public engagement through our Summer Artist-in-Residence program.
While many galleries worldwide close during August due to decreased attendance, we chose to reimagine this lull as an opportunity. Rather than allowing our gallery to sit dormant, we invite an artist to work within the space for the month, culminating in a public presentation of newly created work in September.
The residency provides critical support at pivotal career moments — post-graduation transitions, visa applications, international representation expansion, and financial instability — while simultaneously activating Austin’s cultural ecosystem.
