Jupiterfab Arts Residency

The residency started in 2022 and supports art projects and artists who are willing to inspire themselves in the city of Guadalajara, in Mexico. (We give special attentions to projects that will to create social impact.)

We are located in Colonia Americana, a vibrant community, which was named as the coolest neighborhood in the world by a famous international magazine, in 2023.

We are inviting international and national artists from different disciplines and working on different media to live, work and join our community.

The length of the residency can be from 1 to 6 months but we prioritize artists staying at least 2 months for a better understanding of the local environment.

We encourage and support artists to have a final event, towards the end of their stay to show the results of their work to the local scene and we usually organize a presentation for them at the beginning of their stay in different art centers in the city.

We offer support to artists in terms of logistics, communications and organization. Moreover, we constantly give suggestions and tips about events and art galleries to visit in the city.

If you want to paint a mural, we have a wall available indoor in our arts residency.

We are completely independent and we DO NOT have access to funds for artist to cover their expenses. However, we can provide an official invitation letter, if they want to apply to grants themselves.

Please note, artists are responsible for all their technical materials. We can help them in the search if necessary.

STUDIO INFORMATION

The residency offers three living/working spaces.

SPACE A: One bedroom (5×3 meters) + studio (4×4 meters) for one artist. Rate: 550 EUR per month. This space can host artists who need separate spaces (sleeping and working).

For this studio, we also accept to host DUO artists just in studio A, but it is important to stress that the studio has just one double bed and we will apply an extra fee of 150 EUR per month.

SPACE B: One big bedroom/studio (5 x 6 meters). Rate: 550 EUR per month. This space is suitable for artists working in a media that don’t require separate working and sleeping spaces. Best for writers or photographers.

SPACE C: One big bedroom/studio (5 x 6 meters). Rate: 550 EUR per month. This space is suitable for artists working in a media that don’t require separate working and sleeping spaces.

SPACE D: One big bedroom/studio (4 x 4 meters). Rate: 550 EUR per month. This space is suitable for artists working in a media that don’t require separate working and sleeping spaces.

All spaces have basic furniture: a bed, closet, desk, mirror, a chair and a shelf.

You’re welcome to use your studio walls for an installation, but you will be asked to clean and repaint them at the end of your stay.

ACCOMMODATION

The residence has two bathrooms (one full – one guests), and several common areas: a kitchen, a dining room, a big central patio, a back patio and a laundry room.

In the central patio, there is a big table with chairs to work that can be removed to host performances, workshops, presentations or art events when required. Ideal for artists who loved to work in a common area.

The artist will have full access to the common areas such as kitchen, central patio, laundry room etc.

The kitchen is fully equipped.
