Our Camino al Arte Open Residency for writers, artists and creatives is not just a place to stay. It is a
self-guided program that helps you connect, reflect, exchange, and grow. We offer an opportunity to
step away from the noise, into an authentic Mexican community offering cultural exchange

The selection process is carried out by a group of representatives from the local art community.

•A brief cover letter or email, including the purpose and preferred dates for a residency
•Updated CV
•Portfolio or writing samples, in PDF format, no more than 10 pages, including brief descriptions of your projects
•Music, video, or digital art files should be sent via Google Drive or Dropbox. If the portfolio exists on a website, providing a link is sufficient.

Fee Details

Residency fee is payable with credit card, bank deposit or wire. Fees give residents access to:

  • Privacy and tranquility in a natural environment, surrounded by mesquite trees 
  • A 40m2 well-lit studio for private use
  • Introductions with local arts leaders and ad hoc curatorial support
  • Private bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette
  • Shared dining room, reading room and laundry
  • M-F breakfast and lunch.
  • Access to workshop and print shop, plus alliance with large metal and woodworking shops
  • Use of shared vehicle (gasoline not included)
  • Policy for temporary visitors, children and/or accompanying pets
  • Quick access to historical, recreational and religious facilities
