2027 Residency Application

Associated Residency Program

Vashon Artist Residency offers artists time, space and resources to reflect, create and connect on spectacular Vashon Island in Washington State, along the shores of the Salish Sea. Our self-directed residency welcomes artists at every stage of their creative practice.

We are committed to making this opportunity as accessible as possible and intentionally cultivate a cohort of artists with diverse economic, cultural, geographic, and artistic backgrounds. We believe this diversity fosters a thoughtful, respectful and inspiring creative community.

Each year, we offer ten residency sessions. Two-week and four-week residencies are open to artists working in the visual, literary, performing, media, and interdisciplinary arts.

Each residency session welcomes up to seven artists. Residents enjoy a private bedroom, a private or shared bathroom, a communal kitchen and inviting indoor and outdoor spaces for gathering, dining and relaxation. Every resident has 24-hour access to a dedicated workspace—either a private studio or a spacious writing desk in their bedroom. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus.

Residents are responsible for their own travel, materials, shipping and food expenses. To help reduce financial barriers, Access Stipends are available to offset a portion of these costs.
