In 1997 American arts patron, Nancy Brown Negley, purchased the home of Dora Maar, surrealist photographer and a companion of Picasso. After a 5 year effort, the Dora Maar House opened its doors in 2007 to the first artists, writers and humanities professionals. Originally known as the Nancy B Negley Artists Residency Program, the program changed names to the Dora Maar Cultural Center in 2024. Since our opening, we have welcomed more than 300 artists and writers.
