GENETO ART FOUNDATION is a Kyoto-based arts organization dedicated to supporting contemporary artistic practice, international cultural exchange, and the creation of new connections between art, architecture, culture, and society.

The Foundation operates an international Artist-in-Residence program in Kyoto, inviting artists from around the world to live and create in one of Japan’s most historically and culturally significant cities. Artists are provided with accommodation and studio space for up to 60 days, together with curatorial, promotional, and exhibition support.

Our program encourages artists to engage directly with Japanese culture, history, spirituality, architecture, and local communities, allowing these encounters to become part of their creative research and practice.

The program is currently expanding through a collaboration with Hieizan Enryaku-ji Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most important centers of Japanese Buddhism. Through these partnerships, GENETO ART FOUNDATION seeks to create meaningful dialogue between contemporary artistic expression and Japan’s living cultural heritage.
