RDW Glass Ltd is a small, family-run architectural decorative glass company based in the East End of Glasgow, Scotland. Our studio offers the design, manufacture, installation and repair of stained glass, etched glass and fused glass windows. Projects range from small domestic repairs and home renovations to full church restorations.
Alongside our commissioned work, we run a wide range of evening and weekend classes in stained glass, welcoming beginners as well as experienced makers. We also offer studio space and equipment hire for artists who wish to work with glass in a supportive workshop environment. A key part of our work involves creating community-made stained glass windows that showcase working-class histories and local social heritage. Internationalist perspectives and approaches are vital to our quest to build solidarity across the sector and gain new insights and skills not just as teachers but as artists connected in a global network. These projects are developed in collaboration with community groups across Scotland and beyond, and the finished windows are gifted to local libraries or other public buildings so they can be publicly displayed and enjoyed.
We feel strongly about providing a welcoming and supportive environment for the artists who work and learn in our studio. We aim to foster a culture of care where people feel encouraged, respected and able to develop their skills and creativity at their own pace. Alongside studio-based learning, we are also interested in creating opportunities and shared experiences beyond the workshop. By connecting with what is happening across the city (exhibitions, heritage sites, community projects and cultural events), we encourage artists to engage with the wider creative landscape and allow these experiences to inform and inspire their work.
Stained glass is an endangered craft, and we are passionate about preserving these traditional skills while making them more accessible to new generations of makers. Through our teaching, restoration work and community engagement, we aim to keep the art form alive and thriving.
