A Path of Creativity, A Journey into Community
Senda d'Arte is an independent multi-disciplinary artist residency, creative retreat, and sanctuary for makers hidden in the dramatic Cantabrian Mountains of Asturias, Northern Spain. Standing at 4 Plaza de la Paz in the historic heart of San Martín de Teverga, our three-story building was built in 1906. As one of the original great houses in town, it has born witness to over a century of local history, triumphs, and transformations. Today, it has been thoughtfully restored to serve as a tranquil place to slow down, create, and connect.
Our name translates to "The Path of Art," and it is a literal and metaphorical nod to our goals and surroundings. We sit directly along Senda del Oso (The Bear's Path), a legendary rails-to-trails pathway that winds through mountain rivers, limestone canyons, and lush fields.
Just as the Senda del Oso was once a mining railway built to extract raw materials from the earth, Senda d'Arte represents a different kind of journey—an intentional, creative passage to unearth deep inspiration, fresh ideas, artistic growth, and to foster community for small groups of artists working alongside one another.
