´acePIRAR | Exploration Residency
´ace is an acronym that stands for "arte contemporáneo en expansión", which is Spanish for "expanding contemporary art". Its main mission is to promote contemporary artistic practices and the exploration of their multiple interfaces through residency programs, which are aimed at artists, curators and researchers, and promote collaborative work, exchange, debate and experimentation.
Exploration Residencies provide accompaniment, research resources and local contacts for carrying out projects. All of our residents-in-Exploration Residency receive tutoring and mentoring, accompaniment and work critiques from the ´ace team and specialized professionals, while they enrich themselves by being in contact with their colleagues in residency. This program is aimed at professional and emerging artists from any discipline who want to work on visual, sound or performance art research, or who wish to have a space for reflection to create, investigate or write.
Exploration Residencies may include an open studio format presentation or other possibilities opening up their process for the local public.

Residency Program Summary
Application Information
´ace holds four open calls a year (deadlines are: January 31st, April 30th, July 31st and October 31st), and artists-in-residency are selected through their submitted proposals. The program focuses on expanded art practices (both physical and digital), including visual arts, performance art, sound art, and curatorial projects, with a special interest in proposals that make use of various medium or dissolve the borders between them. Our printmaking workshop fosters the idea of the multiple in a work of art, involving –but not circumscribed only to– traditional and innovative printmaking, installation, photography, artist book, painting illustration, video, stop motion, sound art and new media. Since 2005, ´ace has been working as a driving force that links not only different artistic practices within the cultures that produce them, but also between the residents and the rich cultural, urban and social community of the City of Buenos Aires.
Fees vary according to the age of the resident (sub30 artists have a reduced fee), the duration of the residency, and other items such as housing, materials, residency project requirements, etc. ´ace also hosts residents whose fees are paid by their institutions (local art councils, universities, etc.), with which we can sign a one-time or an ongoing agreement.

Studio Information
- Production Residency residents make use of the ´ace workshop: a large, quiet space with lots of natural light and equipment to facilitate a variety of traditional and new printing processes, works on papers, monotypes and artists books. In addition, the Poliglota Room is a perfect space for performance art, audio-visual installations, lectures, video projections, etc. There are also many tools available and a photo lab for photographic print media techniques, as well as video and sound equipments already installed for video projections or audio-visual experimentations.
- Exploration Residency residents work in The Tower: a silent and luminous studio located on the second floor with an open view, accessible by a spiral staircase. It is ideal to do research, study, write and create in an independent atmosphere. Other studios can be setup according to the project proposal and each resident's needs.
Accommodation for the residents and the studio with working facilities are not on the same property.
