Good Hart Artist Residency
The Good Hart Artist Residency located in Good Hart, Michigan offers 2-3 week residencies to dedicated visual artists, writers, and composers. The residency provides a 1,150 sqft residency and a 24×14 detached studio, food, a $500.00 stipend, and a quiet setting to concentrate on creative work. The resident artist is housed in a rural area within walking distance of Lake Michigan and the village of Good Hart, along the “Tunnel of Trees,” a Scenic Heritage Route. The Good Hart Artist Residency offers a solitary experience by primarily hosting one resident at a time.
The Good Hart Artist Residency works in partnership with several local nonprofit organizations to connect visiting artists, writers, and composers with the community in the Emmet County area. In applying to the program, most residents are asked to collaborate with a local nonprofit organization to provide some type of off site educational event, public performance or to exhibit their work. Please review our partners page for additional information. Visual artists also participate in an open studio event held 10 am to 2 pm on one Saturday during their stay. These Open Studio Saturdays connect artists to the Good Hart community by inviting local residents to experience their work.
