MADE Creatives in Residence

MADE brings together a select group of Creatives from different, but related fields, with different expertise, under the same roof where each can engage and share with one another distinct perspectives, skills, and reflections.

At MADE Creatives in Residence, individuals find the foundation from which to explore all that SMA has to offer as well as the private and shared spaces to reflect on experiences and ultimately create the seed that uniquely expresses their time while they are here or wherever they go next.

At MADE we support community building, advance ideas and programs, and believe that exposure and engagement to new ideas and diverse people are keys for personal and professional growth. We are convinced in the power of social thinking and doing. In this spirit, we invite creatives to be part of the community of Creatives in Residence at MADE in SMA.

When residents come to MADE they will have access to many creative institutions such as Centro Cultural Ignacio Nigromante,  Instituto Allende, Casa de la Cultura, El Sindicato, La Libreria Publica, Fabrica La Aurora, Casa Europa, Teatro Santa Clara and Teatro Angela Peralta, to mention some.

Many of these insitutes offer different types of short term classes and workshops ranging from 3 days to several weeks, which you may have interest to delve into new techniques to further develop your creative expression.  For example, there are classes on cartoneria/"papier-mâché", papel picado/pecked paper, grabado/printmaking, hojalateria/tinsmithing, tallado de madera/woodworking, alebrijes, textiles, tejido/weaving, danza prehispanica/pre-hispanic dance, joyeria tipica/typical jewelry, and so on, which are part of the popular arts and crafts in Mexico.

MADE staff will support you in the process of registering for classes or workshops if you become a resident and if it is your desire to take part in one of them.
