35 Stories with Sanjit Sethi

ACA Staff
October 21, 2025

In honor of ACA’s 35th Anniversary, we are sharing 35 stories from field leaders. First up is Sanjit Sethi, who has served the ACA board since 2017 and has been co-chair since 2022. We invited Sanjit to share a short memory, artifact, or reflection that captures what ACA has meant to him—or how he imagines the future of artist support. Sanjit currently serves as Head of Campus at Green Schools Bali.

"I’m a big fan of asking questions and of poetry—two impulses that meet beautifully in Pablo Neruda’s Book of Questions, published posthumously in 1977. Made up of 316 questions that range from the whimsical to the somber, Neruda asks us not for answers but for sustained pondering: ‘Have you ever seen anything sadder than a train standing in the rain?’ and ‘Can I ask what I came to make happen in this world?’ In 2021, committed leaders and stewards of ACA recognized the generosity and humility in space created by this type of inquiry and created a mission question to guide this work—not to pompously proclaim answers, but rather to lean-in and surface meaningful, sticky, asymmetric, and timeless questions. ACA will always remain a place for me of asking questions that grow, elaborate, and change over time.”
