📣 NEA and NEH Funding Redirected; Mellon Foundation Announces $15M Support 📣
On April 24, 2025, President Trump announced that the “National Garden of American Heroes” will be partially funded by redirecting resources from the NEA and NEH, resulting in major cuts to traditional arts programming. In response, the Mellon Foundation has pledged $15 million to the Federation of State Humanities Councils, including $2.8 million in challenge grants to double local support. Americans for the Arts has launched a National Pulse Survey to track how recent policy changes are affecting artists, organizations, and communities. Your feedback will help shape national advocacy efforts. Submit your responses by May 9, 2025.
📣 Tracking Executive Orders Affecting Charitable Nonprofits 📣
The National Council of Nonprofits has created a working resource to track how recent executive orders are impacting nonprofits. They are updating it frequently and invite you to share how these changes are affecting your work and the communities you serve.
📣 Responding to Education Reform: MLA Strategy Sessions Open 📣
Following seven new executive orders targeting education, the Modern Language Association is offering virtual strategy sessions to help members navigate accreditation changes, DEI defunding, and curriculum restrictions. Sessions are scheduled for May 6 and May 20, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. ET. While MLA membership is required for these strategy sessions, MLA also offers free resources on free speech and the right to protest.
