BIOS Organisation: An urban cultural platform in the centre of Athens.

BIOS is an independent grassroots cultural organisation based in Athens, dedicated to exploring urban culture through contemporary art, creative practice, education, and civic engagement. For more than two decades, it has supported emerging artists, creatives, and cultural practitioners while fostering new forms of cultural expression that reflect the complexities, contradictions, and possibilities of contemporary urban life.

Operating at the intersection of culture, creativity, and the city, BIOS develops platforms for experimentation, dialogue, and collaboration through exhibitions, performances, residencies, talks, festivals, and interdisciplinary projects. Its mission is not only to present culture, but to create the conditions in which new ideas, artistic practices, and creative communities can emerge and thrive.

Today, BIOS operates through four interconnected venues across the centre of Athens. The Residency programme is hosted at Romantso, in the Gerani neighbourhood in Athens.

Romantso, the former printing plant of the infamous "Romantso" magazine, is situated in the historical center of Athens and functions both as an incubator for start-up companies within the creative industry and as a cultural center, organizing and hosting a variety of, accessible to the wider public, events, on a daily basis. As a creative hub, Romantso brings together people shaping culture, design, media, and new ideas, offering flexible ways to work, connect, and grow.

BIOS is among the founding members of the ECHN (European Creative Hubs Network)
