Events for Artists

Artist Communities Alliance and its peer organizations often host events for visual artists, writers, composers, performance artists, choreographers, and more. ACA aspires to center artists’ voices, provide resources, and support environments where all artists can prosper.

Exploring Residencies: ACA's Resources for Artists

Are you an artist or arts administrator who has heard of artist residencies but aren’t sure what they are or how they can support an artist’s career? Are you interested in attending an artist residency, but don’t know what kinds of programs are out there? Join ACA for this information session designed for artists looking for an introduction to the world of artist residencies as well as arts administrators who aspire to support artists by sharing resources such as residency opportunities.

During this session, we will share an overview of artist residencies, explain how programs vary and outline how a residency experience can support your career as an artist. We will also showcase the ways artists can use ACA as a resource to support all stages of the artist residency experience.

This session will include a presentation from ACA Staff, followed by a Q+A. Although this is a live event, all registrants will receive access to a recording of the session. If you are not able to attend the session at the scheduled time, we still encourage you to sign up!

Non-member rates are $50, plus Eventbrite fees.

Can I share my registration with my colleagues?
To show respect to the time and effort of ACA’s staff, who worked diligently to create this programming, please do not share or distribute this content beyond registered participants. One registration equals one virtual seat. We will remove participants from the session who do not follow this policy.

Will I have access to the recording?
Yes, a recording will be shared with all registered participants, whether or not you attend the live session. 

How do I know if I am a current member of ACA?
If you are not sure of your organization’s status or whether your membership is current - drop us a line! Please write to Miranda Macaulay Miller at mmille [at] artistcommunities.org to confirm.

Can I pay by check?
Because registration tracking and event links are processed through Eventbrite, attendees must register through this portal. Eventbrite accepts credit card payments as well as PayPal. If you need to pay through your organization’s bank account, check to see whether it is linked to PayPal.

What accessibility services will be provided for the session?
This session will be ASL interpreted and captioned using AI software. ACA is committed to providing full access to all. Please send accessibility inquiries and requests by Thursday, August 11 to Quinn Casey, qcasey [at] artistcommunities.org.

Will there be one-on-one consultation time for artists during the info session?
One-on-one consultation will not be available during this session. However, there will be designated time for Q+A. We encourage you to ask your specific questions during this time, but consider the relevance and significance of your question for other participants. 

Will ACA staff discuss artist residency funding opportunities?
ACA staff will not discuss specific residency funding opportunities during this session. However, we encourage you to visit our Funding, Fees + Fellowships page to learn more about funding opportunities. 

Does ACA provide scholarships or funding to attend residencies?
ACA does not provide direct scholarships or funding to artists to attend residencies. However, we regularly share resources and opportunities for finding scholarships and funding. Additionally, through our consortia and regranting programs, we have developed partnerships with funders that offer funding to residency programs and direct support to artists so they can attend residencies.

Can ACA staff help me get an artist residency?
ACA does not provide direct coaching or application services for artists applying for artist residencies. However, we help artists get residencies by maintaining the ACA Directory, a source for artists to find residency opportunities based on their interests and needs and developing resources to guide artists through different elements of the residency process, including finding a residency and affording a residency once you have been accepted.
