Green Box: Artist Residencies in 2024

Associated Residency Program

On the heels of the 15th-annual Green Box Arts Festival featuring Paul Taylor Dance Company and in our second year welcoming visitors to Green Mountain Falls Skyspace by James Turrell, Green Box is thrilled to announce it will be accepting applications for 2024 artist residencies though Sunday, October 15th, 2023. The Green Box Artist in Residence program offers artists of national and international stature, from diverse disciplines, and at any stage in their career the opportunity to create new works while living in and engaging with the community of Green Mountain Falls and greater Pikes Peak region.

In 2024 Green Box will offer 30-day Open Project Residencies for individual artists as well as duos and trios working in any artistic discipline. Duo and trio residencies are asked to submit one application for their unit. Deliverables will be mutually agreed upon at the time of awarding, and all residencies include a degree of community engagement.

In addition to our application for Open Projects, Green Box is seeking proposals for a specific project residency that will design and create a Period Room. The deliverable of this residency is to transform one of Green Box's interior spaces into an interactive and immersive exhibit. Proposals of all kinds will be considered, from historic rooms of any period to post-modern/abstract spaces. Artist stipends for this residency type are equal to Open Project residencies.

The application process is open to both U.S. and international artists. Private housing in a shared housing facility will be provided at The Shed, part of the beautifully-restored Lakeview Terrace Theater. All bedrooms feature Smart TV's, WiFi, and landline phones; access to art studios and laundry facilities are also provided, as well as an outdoor fire pit, BBQ grill, and hot tub. Weekly cleaning of apartments is also included.

Incomplete applications will not be accepted for consideration. There is no fee to apply. Resident artists will be paid a stipend that will cover living expenses as well as travel and ground transportation. Living in Green Mountain Falls requires a vehicle, which an artist may choose to rent or bring their own. The stipend amounts are awarded as follows:

Individual Artist: $9,000

Duo Residency: $12,000

Trio Residency: $15,000
