Nomad Art Residency Bangkok supports mid-career international artists, curators, writers, choreographers, and creative technologists through an intellectually rigorous residency programme rooted in the Khlong San district on the bank of the Chao Phraya river. Each cycle is anchored by a published thematic research question, bringing a small, carefully selected cohort of four to six residents into sustained dialogue with each other, with a community of over ten working Thai artists in the same building, and with Bangkok’s creative, ecological, and historical landscape.
The programme operates two tracks. The four-week Nomad Track is open to self-funding mid-career practitioners through an open call. The twelve-week Lab Track offers a deeper research and production cycle including dedicated curatorial mentorship across multiple sessions, facilitated peer critique, and a four-day field research component with the Pga K’nyau community at Baan Nong Tao in Chiang Mai — a direct encounter with indigenous ecological knowledge that grounds the program’s thematic ambitions in lived experience.
All residents receive studio space, accommodation, a guided cultural orientation across Bangkok’s galleries and institutions, a heritage tour of the Khlong San district, access to the building’s Thai artist community, and grant application support — including a formal letter of invitation and itemized budget documentation for funding applications in their home country.

Residency Experience Summary
Application Information
Nomad Art Residency Bangkok welcomes applications from mid-career international artists, curators, writers, choreographers, and creative technologists. Applicants should have a minimum of five years of professional practice and a demonstrable engagement with the cycle’s thematic research question.
We are looking for practitioners at a stage in their career where sustained immersion in a new context would generate meaningful new directions — not early-career applicants building foundational skills, and not practitioners whose engagement with the residency would be purely additive to an already fully formed body of work.
Applicants must be available for the full duration of their chosen cohort period and able to fund their participation through personal resources, institutional grants, or arts council mobility funding from their home country.
Nomad Track — 4 weeks
Program fee: ฿55,000 THB (approximately USD 1,650)
The fee covers studio space appropriate to your discipline, accommodation in Bangkok for the duration of the residency, Bangkok art scene orientation including guided visits to galleries and institutions, a heritage tour of the Khlong San district, access to a community of over ten working Thai artists in the same building, welcome and farewell dinners, one public program event, photography and video documentation, and grant application support including a formal letter of invitation and itemized budget documentation.
Lab Track — 12 weeks
Programme fee: ฿240,000 THB (approximately USD 7,200)
The fee covers all of the above, plus dedicated curatorial mentorship across multiple sessions throughout the program, two facilitated peer critique sessions, a four-day field research component with the Pga K’nyau community at Baan Nong Tao and a city visit in Chiang Mai including train travel and accommodation, professional photography and video documentation of the residency, and inclusion in program publications and digital archive.
Upon acceptance to Nomad Art Residency Bangkok, all residents receive a formal letter of invitation on Warin Lab Nomad letterhead and an itemized budget document mapping residency costs onto standard grant application categories. These documents are structured to meet the documentation requirements of most arts councils, cultural foundations, and mobility grant programs worldwide.
Scholar Rate
A reduced Scholar Rate is available at the Residency’s discretion for practitioners from the Global South or underrepresented contexts whose work is exceptional but whose home grant ecosystem is less resourced. Applicants wishing to be considered are invited to indicate this in their application form. Scholar Rate awards are not guaranteed and are assessed individually alongside the strength of the application.
