As an artist resident at Nantucket Island School of Design & the Arts’ Offshore Artist’s Residency (OAR) you will have the opportunity to explore this special and truly beautiful natural landscape on an island 30 miles out to sea, which is also very rich with cultural history! Nantucket is a vibrant year-round New England community full of creative people running galleries, museums, restaurants, theaters, and non-profits of every sort! Whether you take to the studio, or head into our unique landscape, we hope your residency will provide you an opportunity to recharge and come away with lots of new ideas…and renewed energy.
The NISDA Artist Community welcomes emerging and professional artists and educators in all fields including, but not limited to, classical photography, painting, ceramics, textiles, writing, music, performance and any alternative projects committed to the creative process. NISDA is especially interested in interdisciplinary art, art in the environment and conceptual works. We welcome educators pursuing the integration of the arts and interdisciplinary projects in their classrooms. NISDA’s residency is an on-your-own, self-structured experience that provides time and studio space for personal renewal. In June, July, August, September + October you may arrange open studio time to work in NISDA’s Long Shed Ceramics Studio at SeaView Farm, in addition to working in your Atlantic House Residency Studio or in the Nantucket landscape.
NISDA’s OAR Atlantic House is just a short mile down the road from our Historic Seaview Farm Dairy Barn and Long Shed Community Center school facilities – we welcome you to create, work and collaborate with the other Artists, the Community and enjoy our Cultural Arts Lectures and Events! The school also has two private single rooms designated for Artists in Residence on site at the farm. The simple barn accommodations have shared bathrooms and kitchen.
