Casa Hechale is an artist-led cultural center and international residency platform dedicated to theatre, performance, and new work in Mexico City. While many residencies are designed primarily for visual artists, Casa Hechale offers a home for actors, directors, playwrights, dramaturgs, dancers, musicians, performers, producers, and interdisciplinary live artists.

Housing, rehearsal and creation spaces,  community programs, and a Black Box Theatre come together under one roof, allowing artists to live, write, train, rehearse, experiment, convene, and share work within an active cultural environment. Two- and four-week, process-centered residencies include orientation, a Community Manager, artistic dialogue, program invitations, an informal Open House, and connections across Mexico City. No finished production is required.

Rooted in Mexico City and international in outlook, Casa Hechale builds a cultural bridge connecting Mexican and Chicano artists and wider U.S. performing arts communities with practitioners in Spain, Europe, and beyond. Partial scholarships support four-week residents, with an additional award for eligible Latin American artists.
