Elsewhere Studios sits in Paonia, Colorado — a town of 1,500 in the North Fork Valley, where the desert meets the mountains, surrounded by orchards, farms, and vineyards. It's a place that shows up for its artists: a town-wide Final Friday art walk, a radio station that puts residents on air, a library that lends original artwork.
Artists come for one to three months. Three to four of us live here at a time and become a household — private rooms, a shared kitchen and commons, a 360 sq ft studio with easels and screen printing equipment, a back garden with terraced lounging and a ditch running through it. Choose the Suite (clawfoot tub, private studio), the Loft (off the commons), or the Gingerbread House (a wood-stove cabin in the yard). Ceramics access at Paonia Clayworks down the road.
Open to visual artists, writers, composers, musicians, performers, scientists, activists, teachers, students — anyone ready to go deeper. Residents share their work through Final Friday open studios.
Sliding scale $950–$1,600/month. Hosting one artist costs us ~$2,500; donors bridge the rest for everyone. Scholarships rebuilding — if the fee is the only obstacle, apply anyway and tell us.
