Alchemy Artists Residency

Toronto , ON, Canada

Alchemy Island Spring, Gibraltar Point Centre for the Arts
Dates: May 6-21, 2024

Alchemy is an international artist-led residency devoted to exploring the
synergy between artistic and culinary practices in community settings. More 100 artists from around the world have joined Alchemy since 2015.

A community setting for inquiry and discovery

Gibraltar Point Centre for the Arts is a peaceful artist retreat nestled against the magnificent natural backdrop of Toronto Island. It offers a distraction-free environment to focus on art creation amidst the natural surroundings of Lake Ontario, forests & seasonal gardens filled with flowers, fruit and vegetables.  A furnished studio and bedroom, a fully equipped common kitchen, laundry facilities and WIFI. The Toronto city core is a 15-minute ferry ride away.

Shared meals, readings and discussions probe the creative intersection of food & art in a community setting & help us better understand the magic & inspiration created by making & sharing art & food.

This residency brings together working artists working in visual arts, sculpture, photography, craft, food,  performance art, writing and video. Participants share their work & practices while also contributing culinary creativity to lively communal discussions and dinners.

Facilitator:  Claire M Tallarico, is a visual artist, chef and urban gardener whose
social practice explores how the everyday activities of art & food making &
sharing makes a difference to participants and communities.
