Creative Residency

Creative Residency Description:

  1. The Creative Residency at Naples Botanical Garden will inspire the creation of environmental art and serve as an opportunity for artists to rest, reenergize, and engage with the community through Community Engagement Projects.
  2. Creative Residents are housed in the Garden’s Guest House located within walking distance of the Garden’s main visitor entrance. The home is furnished, including bed and bath linens. The kitchen is stocked with essential cookware. Wi-Fi and laundry are available in the Guest House. Residents are responsible for their own grocery shopping, meal preparation, and personal hygiene products. Residents will receive a $600 grocery stipend at the start of the residency. 
  3. Residents will receive some mileage reimbursement as well as a $3,000 stipend paid to the artist in two separate payments, one at the completion of the Residency and the second at the completion of the final Community Engagement Project. 
  4. There is no dedicated studio space on the grounds. Residents will utilize the Guest House and adjacent pergola as their studio.
  5. The Guest House and Garden are not equipped with artist supplies or musical instruments.

Additional Eligibility Information
  1. Artists must permanently reside in Broward, Charlotte, Collier, Glades, Hendry, Lee, Miami Dade, Monroe, Palm Beach, or Sarasota Counties in the State of Florida. 
  2. Available to stay onsite for the duration of the Residency.
  3. Available to lead at least two Community Engagement Projects. 
  4. Emerging or professional artists working in musical composition and/or musical performance.
  5. Naples Botanical Garden's current staff, volunteers, and their immediate family are not eligible to apply. 
  6. Applicants must be 21 or older to apply.
  7. A non-refundable $30 application fee is required.

Grant/Scholarship/Other Funding Support Details
  1. The Garden will provide the Creative Resident with a single $600 Grocery Stipend at the start of the Residency. 
  2. The Garden will reimburse the Creative Resident for mileage costs related to the Residency up to 800 total miles. Mileage reimbursement to and from The Garden will be at the IRS Business Use rate at the time of travel. 
  3. For Community Engagement Projects, the Garden will reimburse the Creative Resident for supply costs up to $1000. 
  4. The Garden is not responsible for additional expenses related to the Residency unless otherwise stated and mutually agreed to in writing. 
  5. All invoices, receipts, and mileage reimbursement requests submitted to the Garden will be paid within sixty (60) days of receipt.
  6. All payments are by mailed check. A completed ACH authorization form is required for direct deposit.

Naples Botanical Garden permits ADA-defined, trained service animals on the property. However, emotional support animals, comfort animals, and pets are not permitted in the Guest House.
